Central Heating Power Flushing
A power flush is a deep clean for your central heating system. A specialist machine pumps water and cleaning chemicals at high velocity through the radiators, pipework and boiler to break down the sludge, rust and debris that build up over years and choke performance.
It is usually needed when you notice cold spots on radiators, rooms that are slow to heat, a noisy boiler or pipes, or frequent breakdowns. A power flush improves heat distribution, helps radiators warm up faster, reduces strain on the boiler and lifts overall system efficiency.
A standard flush takes about a day and includes connecting the flushing machine, chemically cleaning the system, individually flushing each radiator, balancing the system and adding a corrosion inhibitor to protect it afterwards. Done properly by a professional it is safe and actually extends boiler life.
It will not fix a faulty boiler, a broken pump or electrical control problems, and it is not the same as bleeding radiators, which only removes trapped air. Most manufacturers recommend a power flush before fitting a new boiler to protect the new unit and keep its warranty valid, and we typically advise one every five to ten years.
